Implementation of Efficient Algorithms for Globally Optimal Trajectories ∗

چکیده
We consider a continuous-space shortest path problem in a two-dimensional plane. This is the problem of finding a trajectory that starts at a given point, ends at the boundary of a compact set of <2, and minimizes a cost function of the form ∫ T 0 r(x(t))dt+ q(x(T )). For a discretized version of this problem, a Dijkstra-like method that requires one iteration per discretization point has been developed by Tsitsiklis [Tsi93]. Here we develop some new label correcting-like methods based on the Small Label First methods of Bertsekas [Ber93], and Bertsekas et. al. [BGM94]. We prove the finite termination of these methods, and we present computational results showing that they are competitive and often superior to the Dijkstra-like method. ∗Research Supported by NSF Grant No 9300494-DMI. †Ph.D. Candidate, Laboratory for Information and Decision Systems, M.I.T., Cambridge, MA, 02139. ‡Professor, Laboratory for Information and Decision Systems, M.I.T., Cambridge, MA, 02139

Locally Optimal Planning in High Dimensions
Algorithms which guarantee to find globally optimal trajectories by covering a hypervolume of state space become infeasible in high dimensions. We have developed an algorithm which generates locally optimal trajectories without covering a hypervolume which only requires polynomial memory and time. Even though the algorithm does not guarantee a globally optimal trajectory in a deterministic mann...
متن کاملMathematical Analysis of Optimal Tracking Interval Management for Power Efficient Target Tracking Wireless Sensor Networks
In this paper, we study the problem of power efficient tracking interval management for distributed target tracking wireless sensor networks (WSNs). We first analyze the performance of a distributed target tracking network with one moving object, using a quantitative mathematical analysis. We show that previously proposed algorithms are efficient only for constant average velocity objects howev...
متن کاملAssessment of the Performance of Clustering Algorithms in the Extraction of Similar Trajectories
In recent years, the tremendous and increasing growth of spatial trajectory data and the necessity of processing and extraction of useful information and meaningful patterns have led to the fact that many researchers have been attracted to the field of spatio-temporal trajectory clustering. The process and analysis of these trajectories have resulted in the extraction of useful information whic...
متن کاملThrust - Limited Optimal Three - Dimensional Spacecraft Trajectories
Several optimal three-dimensional orbital transfer problems are solved for thrust-limited spacecrafts using collocation and nonlinear programming techniques. The solutions for full nonlinear equations of motion are obtained where the integrals of the free Keplerian motion in three dimensions are utilized for coasting arcs. In order to limit the solution space, interior-point constraints are use...
متن کاملOptimal Trajectory Generation for a Robotic Worm via Parameterization by B-Spline Curves
In this paper we intend to generate some set of optimal trajectories according to the number of control points has been applied for parameterizing those using B-spline curves. The trajectories are used to generate an optimal locomotion gait in a crawling worm-like robot. Due to gait design considerations it is desired to minimize the required torques in a cycle of gait. Similar to caterpillars,...
متن کاملBiomechanical Investigation of Empirical Optimal Trajectories Introduced for Snatch Weightlifting
The optimal barbell trajectory for snatch weightlifting has been achieved empirically by several researchers. They have studied the differences between the elite weightlifters’ movement patterns and suggested three optimal barbell trajectories (type A, B, and C). But they didn’t agree for introducing the best trajectory. One of the reasons is this idea that the selected criterion by researchers...
